History

Teachers: Mrs T Mahmood (BA (Hons) History | QTS). Exam Board: Edexcel

The study of History is a long-standing tradition and holds great significance in Islam. The Qur'anic verse below, is a motivation for historical study, as it was for great personalities of the past like Ibn Battuta.

"Have they not travelled through the land and seen what was the end of those before them - though they were superior to them in power."

The Noble Qur’an [30: 09]

While we follow the national curriculum, we also strive to cultivate a deep appreciation for our religious and cultural heritage. Where appropriate, we explore the rich history of Islamic civilizations by linking it to national curriculum topics.

The objective of History at Islamia is to provide students with a clear understanding and knowledge of the past and present and how it affects the world today. Pupils will have the opportunity to look at events that are affecting the world currently. They will be observing the roots of conflicts and change and analysing these issues as well as possible solutions that can help solve the many crises in our world today.

In 2024, 88% of students achieved grades 9-7, with 100% attaining grades 9-5. You can see our school performance figures for 2024 GCSE exams here.
