Clubs & Activities

Extracurricular activates are key to the holistic support we strive to provide for our students at Brondesbury College. They enrich our curriculum and provide pathways to social, moral and spiritual development. 

We have thirteen* clubs and a range of subject-based support groups for supplementary and targeted learning.They provide further opportunities for learning and revision to students who enjoy participating in national competitions and awards, such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award. 

We also organise regular trips and promote student-led social responsibility initiatives. Each year, everyone looks forward to our annual school events — many of them planned and run entirely by students. There is a lot going on out of the classroom, at Brondesbury College. Clubs

LAMDA Run by external instructor, Mrs Abdul Aziz (Alburouge Young Speakers Club)LAMDA helps students develop reading fluency, a richer vocabulary, stronger memory and recall, improved communication skills, and the confidence to structure and deliver compelling speeches. It will run for 13 sessions from week beginning January 2025. There will be an exam to sit. This is the nationally recognised qualification which also contributes towards UCAS points. Thursday, 3.50pm – 5.20pm (after school hours) BCB Masjid For Years 10 only

£10 per session (excluding exam fees). Approx. £78 for the exam

Science Club Run by the Science Department, Science Club offers students the chance to explore scientific concepts through hands-on experiments, while developing critical thinking skills and a deeper passion for science. Will include core practicals (GCSE related) and fun experiments. It runs throughout the year. Thursday, 3.50pm - 4.50pm  Science Lab All students (first come first served) £5 per term
Tajweed Club Run by Mr Hanan, Tajweed Club enables students to learn how to recite the Quran as accurately as possible with the correct pronunciation. The focus will be on Surah al Fatihah and the final 10 Surahs of the Qur'an. Break/Lunch times RS Room Open to all Free
Wrestling Club Run by external instructor, Mr Rezayev, Wrestling Club incorporates a mixture of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Judo and Wrestling for strength, cardio and self-discipline. It runs throughout the year. Friday, 3.50pm – 5.20pm (after school hours) BCB masjid Open to all £4.50 per session 
Self Defence Club External organisers provide kick-boxing or Taekwondo lessons to help students build self-confidence, improve focus and concentration, develop self-discipline, and strengthen mental resilience. TBC IGS Gym Open to all TBC
Football Club Run by Mr Bardu (PE Teacher) Football Club supports students in developing their skills and techniques while promoting health, teamwork, and enjoyment. It runs throughout the year. Wednesday, 3.50pm - 4.50pm AstroTurf

Free
Adhaan Club Run by Mr Harb and Mr Hanan, Adhaan Club enables students to learn how to call out the adhan along with the importance of this position. Students who graduate will be able to perform the adhan for any prayers at the school. The club runs throughout the year. Break/Lunch times Arabic & RS Rooms Open to all Free
Debating Club Run by Dr Ali, of the English Department, Debating Club enables students to develop and refine their analytical ability whilst delivering spontaneously prepared speeches. Tuesday, 3.50pm - 4.50pm (after school hours) English classroom Open to all £1 per session
Chess Club Run by Mr Hamid, Chess Club introduces students to the fundamentals of the game while strengthening focus, critical thinking, and analytical skills through strategic play. The club runs throughout the year. In-house competitions will be held at the discretion of the organiser. Monday, lunch time  Chess boards (outside Headteacher's office) Open to all Free
French Club Run by Mrs Gherab, of the French Department, the French Club prepares students for the The Anthea Bell Prize for Young Translators, which is a UK-wide creative translation competition for students aged 11-18 studying French. Mondays lunchtime French classroom Open to all Free

 

Subject Support Groups

Subject Support Groups provide further opportunities for learning and revision to students who enjoy participating in national competitions and awards as well as those who want to build on their classroom learning.

Our students regularly take part in national competitions and awards, bringing home bronze, gold and even silver meddals across challenges spanning science to maths.

Student Initiatives

Our student-led social initiatives inspire a strong sense of compassion and responsibility. From organising sponsored walks for the National Zakat Foundation to hosting creative fundraising events that have raised up to £50,000 (!) our students actively support meaningful causes.

Their efforts have helped fund vital projects like building wells in developing countries — demonstrating the power of youth-led action to make a real difference. Organisations and causes we've supported to date include:

  • Sponsored walks for the National Zakat Foundation
  • 'Evening of Surprise' events in aid of crissis effected people spanning Lebanon to Palestine
  • Charity Dinners in aid of the Read Foundation and Yusuf Islam Foundation
  • Movie Nights for charity
  • Fundraising for the Islamia Hardship Fund
  • Fundraising to build clean water sources with Muslim Hands
